Pet of the Month?
You've been holding your breath for this bit of news.
While browsing through some fliers, I came across a picture of Brutus (an 8 yr. old British blue cat) who had just won a $100 coupon to a pet store. Apparently, no one had informed Brutus. He was wearing--along with a pink sweater and tiny sombrero--an expression of seething anger and extreme disgust. (Sorry, Brutus, but I'm afraid I received my daily dose of laughter medicine at your expense. No doubt you were able to get a substantial supply of catnip and tuna juice--your favorite treats--which should help to curb your embarrassment).
From the looks of Brutus, he had never worried about where his next meal was coming from. We, however do not always know when/where/how the Lord will supply our needs--financial or otherwise (I'm talking needs, not wants, here). We may plot and plan, check our hoarded resources and our list of rich uncles, pull out what hair we have left, and expel enough hot air to launch a balloon. We expect Him to choose from our carefully planned a, b, or c. Then, when He covers that need with d, "none of the above", we are simply amazed that He would and could do what He promised in a way we hadn't dreamed of. And of course, being human (and not feline), we all struggle with this.
Oh, to be able to actually enjoy the waiting process a bit more as we watch and wonder how the Lord will supply the need (rather than being tangled up in if He will do it, and do it our way). And, I am always amazed at the creative ways our Lord uses-- even if it is with a $100 pet store coupon.
"But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
